For some, the prospect of gaining knowledge would seem like reason enough to do what we do.  
 
Valuable though it is,
 knowledge is not the ultimate reason why we devote ourselves to observing the wolves and moose of Isle Royale.
We observe the wolves and moose of Isle Royale and share these observations with you because they are beautiful.
 
To meditate on that which is beautiful...this may be reason enough.
How ought we relate to nature?
 
What is our place in the natural world?
 
The wolves and moose can teach us answers to these questions, if we listen.
 
Are the thoughts and experiences of another beyond our imagination?
 
Perhaps.  But focusing on another is necessary to better understand another’s perspective, which in turn is necessary for harmony.
