Volunteer Opportunities

Join a Moosewatch Expedition

Moosewatch Expeditions are an incredible opportunity for you to be a part of the wolf-moose research project. Each expedition involves a week-long trek though the boreal forests of Isle Royale. The basic purpose of each expedition team is very simple - to carefully search as much area as possible for moose bones. The expedition will also record important observations and collect other valuable data.

As of January 20, 2025, we are now only accepting applications for those who would like to be considered for the wait list.

Moosewatch for Educators is a unique field experience in support of the ecological study of wolves and moose at Isle Royale National Park. Educators will receive the technical instruction needed to participate as a member of a backcountry research team

Field Work Opportunities for College Students

We are seeking college student volunteers to assist with data collection for the next summer field season. This is a great internship opportunity to gain valuable field experience while working in the remote and beautiful Isle Royale National Park. The duration is approximately 4-5 weeks between early-May and mid-June.
